Blackberries
Blackberries are an excellent source of antioxidants, such as anthocyanin pigments, (responsible for the purplish-black color of blackberries), vitamins C, Vitamin E, and ellagic acid; all may protect against some types of cancer and various chronic diseases. Since cooking does not destroy ellagic acid, even blackberry jams and desserts retain ellagic acid health benefits. However, keep in mind that these types of food are not what we are looking for when trying to get ripped.
An interesting fact about blackberries is their salicylate content. Salicyte is an active substance that is found in aspirin. Potential benefits have yet to be explored and some experts advise caution to individuals sensitive to aspirin. In addition, because of their many tiny seeds, blackberries are a source of soluble fiber, such as pectin.

Blackberries in Your Weight Loss Program
Although sugar found in fruit is considered healthy it remains sugar. Even fructose (the fruit sugar) causes a raise in insulin levels which in turn results in increased fat storage. Since we try to avoid insulin spikes while on a weight loss program, fruit should be eaten only in moderation. Fruits low in sugar and glycemic index are the best choice when trying to lose weight.
Since blackberries have relatively low sugar content, they are excellent fruit choice for your weight loss program.
