Rye Bread in Your Weight Loss Program
Starches, such as rye bread, are NOT an essential nutrient for your body. Your body can not survive without protein or fat, but it can perfectly stay alive without starches. In fact, our Paleolithic antecessors have never eaten this type of carbs. They were getting their carbs mainly from wild fruits and root vegetables. Only later, after the invention of agriculture, starchy carbohydrates become part of our diet.
However, this doesn’t mean you should totally avoid starches. Just the opposite; in small to moderated amounts they are very important source of energy that will fuel your workouts and replenish your glycogen storages after a training session. The truth is it is quite difficult to exercise on a low carb diet and you know that as a smart weight loser, you should exercise. Exercise is what burns fat and small to moderate amounts of starchy carbohydrates is the fuel needed by your body to accomplish the task. The key is to adjust your starchy carb intake to your exercise intensity – On greater intensities, greater glycemic load.
