Calorie Deficit

A calorie deficit means that you burn more calories than the amount you consume. This is the only proven way to burn body fat – the law of calorie balance. It is quite simple – eat more calories than you burn and you will gain body fat; eat less calories than you burn and you will lose body fat.

There are two ways you can create a calorie deficit:

- by decreasing your food intake and thus decrease your calorie intake

- by increasing the total amount of calories you burn through physical activity.

Both methods should be used, but of the two ways, burning the calories through exercise is healthier, more efficient and with better long-term effect on your body composition. Drastic decrease in calorie intake makes your body enter starvation mode with the consequent decrease in metabolic rate. Burning fat trough increased physical activity instead, is the ultimate way to increase metabolism, and achieve long-term weight loss.
