Micronutrients
Nutrient is an organic or a non-organic compound that a living organism needs in order to sustain life and grow. Micronutrients are called this way because they are needed only in very small amounts, these chemicals are the elements that enable the body to produce hormones, enzyme cofactors and other substances essential for life maintenance and proper growth. As tiny as the amounts are, however, the consequences of their lack are considerable. Iodine, vitamin A, and iron are most important in global public health terms; their deficiency represents an important threat to the health and development of populations the world over.
Vitamins: Vitamin A,E,D,K(fat soluble), vitamins B1,B2,B3,B5,B6,Folic Acid, Biotin, B12, Vitamin C (water-soluble)
Minerals: Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Potassium, Sodium, Chloride, Iron, Zinc, Copper, Manganese, Selenium, Molybdenum, etc.
Micronutrient content of food is what determinate the nutrient-density of that food. Low-calorie, high micronutrient foods are considered nutrient dense. This is because they provide increased nutritional content but less calories. On the other hand, foods low in micronutrients and high in calories are with low nutrient density and are not recommended when trying to lose weight.
