Basal Metabolic Rate(BMR) Calculator
Your BMR(Basal Metabolic Rate) determines the number of calories you burn while resting in a neutrally temperate environment. These are the calories you use to maintain normal body functions: breathing, brain functions, circulation, etc.
Keep in mind that the formula used to calculate BMR omits your lean body mass (your fat-free weight). Since leaner individuals need more calories than less leaner ones, the result will be very precise in all but the very muscular (will underestimate calorie needs)and the very fat (will over-estimate calorie needs).
Important
Although you cannot change many of the factors that affect your basal metabolic rate, there are techniques based on proper nutrition and exercise that can help you to considerably raise your metabolism. For more information read our "Weight Loss Nutrition Guide" and "Weight Loss Exercise Guide"
